The statewide Nursing Peer Health Assistance Program/Nurse Alternative to Discipline Program provides comprehensive services to RNs and LPNs who may be experiencing physical, emotional, psychological, substance use/abuse problems or other personal issues. This Colorado Board of Nursing contract is funded by license fees and services are delivered by professionals at Peer Assistance Services, Inc. The objectives are the protection of the public and the rehabilitation of the nurse.

As a reminder all urine screening tests must be observed by a same-gender collection site staff member, who has no relationship to the licensee. The observer must physically observe licensee's urine stream at the time the specimen is provided.

Scholarship
PAS offers the Jody Gingery Memorial Scholarship for the University of Utah School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies. Jody Gingery, MEd, RN served a director of the Colorado Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force. She provided countless educational sessions and exhibits focused on the reduction of prescription drug misuse and abuse. She was instrumental in the passage of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program legislation. PAS is pleased to offer this scholarship in honor of her dedication to the prevention and intervention of substance use disorders. This $1,000 scholarship is available annually to a nurse or student of nursing with an interest in the prevention, recognition and treatment of alcoholism and other substance abuse.
